To all fellow medics out there who have been taught to perform a proper breast examination...

Three (cardinal) rules one should know and remember:

1. Kindly explain (albeit properly) what you're about to do prior to the examination.

2. REMEMBER TO USE YOUR PALMS (NOT THE TIPS OF YOUR FINGERS) TO PALPATE THE BREASTS, and more importantly...

3. THINK REALLY CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU DISCLOSE YOUR FINDINGS TO YOUR PATIENT!!! ><"

*fumes*

Why am I so mad, you ask?

I'll tell you another time, when I've calmed down a little....

*ahem* It's a day late.... but what the heck:

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

The year 2007 began with my transfer to the University of Melbourne, with 11 other students from IMU. On one hand, I was excited. I was FINALLY on my way back to Melbourne. On the flip-side of the coin, however, anxiety loomed. After almost four years since I left Melbourne, will things be just like they were, while I was still at Trinity? What would my former colleagues think of me when I come back? Will the people I know think " Ah, she'll blow her chances again, just like before. She'll never make it..." Will I get along with the other 11 people from IMU???

Then my term commenced - with the first 6 months at the University of Melbourne's Medical School. The remainder of the year was to be spent at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) and Western Hospital (WH).

On an academic level, I have learned quite a fair deal (and lost a fair bit too...whatever can I say about procrastination? =P) ..... although truth to be told, I still can't quite get my head over molecular pathology. Socially, I guess I have grown a little too - in the sense that I'm now able to mingle around with more ease, and hold conversations (a wee bit) longer than usual. HAHAHAHA!!!

Well, to cut to the chase....I'd say 2007 has been quite a roller-coaster ride to me. A pretty good ride, that is. Oh there WERE moments when I felt everything was spiralling uncontrollably, and I thought, "I'd wish the earth beneath would cave-in and swallow me whole so I'll never see daylight again!!!!". Nevertheless, there were also moments when I felt.... I was on THE very top of the world - blissful, contend, proud. And those fond memories definitely overrule the former. XD

So goodbye 2007... and hello 2008!!!!
