Check this blog out:

Kenny Sia

Jian Wey recommended this site to me just the other day. I googled it, and lo and behold - I got 596,000 hits on this particular Malaysian blogger!! swt. No wonder Jian Wey was shocked when I said, "Who's Kenny Sia???". heh.

What is his blog all about, and why is it so popular:

"...Kenny Sia Tze Foo...a Malaysian who is prominently associated with his blog kennysia...."

"...He started to blog in January of 2005 so as to "chronicle the drastic changes over that tumulous period" of his life...."

"...His blog comprises a myriad of topics: satire and crude humour, day-to-day life, personal experiences, his travels, product reviews and politics. He also blogs about his hometown Kuching, and Perth. He writes with a good sense of humor. Some of the articles have generated vigorous discussions, as some find the articles controversial, and even potentially offensive. However, Kenny generally maintains a hands-off attitude on the comments unless he sees the need to reply or intervene....."

"....He frequently satirises international and local celebrities, his fellow bloggers, and himself, often using photoshopped pictures. However this has led some readers to criticise Kenny for insensitivity. Ironically some companies parodied by Kenny have sent him free gifts as appreciation...."

My connection's back, after five (long and tortuous) days without the Internet. Whoopee!!!! Got loads to tell you guys la (it's been three weeks since I last blogged after all), but before that, I gotta fix this *ahem* "game" up first. Thanks for the tag, evie. =P

How this game work:

"Each player of this game starts off by giving 6 weird things about themselves. People who get tagged need to write in a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state the rules clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. After you do that, leave them each a comment letting them know you tagged them and to read your blog."

Now on with the 6 weird(?) things about moi *winks* :

1. I am TERRIBLY self-conscious: of the way I look, communicate, and how people might perceive me. It's even worse when one has problematic skin (ie: acne and eczema), greasy hair and a "hefty" weight-issue to boot. Really screwed me up psychologically la. I tend to shy away from conversations, not because the topic-of-discussion is unappealing to me (with exception to gaming, coz I don't play them anymore =P), BUT because I'm afraid of what people might THINK of me when I express myself verbally. -_-" I'm also terrified of social events, more so when people I'm close to are not around.
Deep down inside, I still feel inferior, despite losing 13 kilos since Semester 3, despite getting compliments from people I know (and a few strangers) that I'm good-looking, despite people telling me that I'm intelligent, pleasant and friendly.

2. I'm a caffeine addict. It was so bad at one stage that, if I didn't get a minimum of two mugs (of coffee) a day, I would develop tension headaches, light-headedness, and severe drowsiness. -_-" I'm still addicted to caffeine, although I've managed to cut down my coffee-intake - from more than two mugs per day to two, from two to one, and now from one mug of coffee to one mug of "coffee-flavoured" milk! lol. Old habits die hard, ne? =P

3. My eyes would become progressively "droopy" as the day goes by. Sure, they look big and alert in the mornings, provided that I had a goodnight's sleep first, but come evening, they would look more like a Bassett hound's from the "Hush Puppies" ad. Dad once jokingly said that I might be suffering from myasthenia gravis. swt.

4. I ADORE all things round and furry. No, make that round, FAT and furry!!! Don't ask why. =P

5. I'm a foodie, which explains why I gain weight so easily. I love cooking too, but eating's better. hehe. I'm quite open to new and exotic foods, though insects, coagulated blood and foetuses are exempted from the rule. heh. I have a predilection for world cuisines, and so far, I've sampled (and enjoyed thoroughly) Malaysian (duh), and some Indonesian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Polynesian, Mexican, Indian, Italian, Greek, Australian (bush tucker) and German and Moroccan dishes. My next stop: Middle-Eastern, Latin-American, Scottish (haggis, anyone?) and African food.

6. I'm terrified of bees, after a "stinging" incident a day after I arrived in Melbourne. And the bees I've encountered here, are more annoying than the flies in Down Under. They somehow have a predilection for yellow-lighted objects (think ceiling lights, table lamps etc) after dusk, and have the tendency to enter homes through open windows and "buzz" around the aforementioned lights. And what better timing to do so when I study at night, with the lights on and my bedroom window open? About eight bees have entered my uncle's home so far, out of which around four came in through my bedroom window! ><" I normally close the windows at night now, so none has come in so far. But, just in case of another "break-in", I now have a bottle of insecticide spray at the corner of my bedroom, to "drug" any bee that comes whooshing into my room, and some old newspapers to finish the job. heh.

Now for my six "victims" (Muahahahah):

1. Sidd

2. Man Keat

3. Thomas

4. Leng Hui

5. Jane

6. Po Yin

Have a nice day. =p

Sunday, February 04, 2007

My six-month waiting period (aka holiday) is officially over in three hours. The one-week bridging course in Melbourne Uni is starting tomorrow. Much as I would have liked my break to end (and end boredom perhaps?), I'm getting some mixed feelings about starting med school.

I'm now scared. Scared to bits. You might think this is strange, considering I have studied in Melbourne before.

However, do you know what is more frightening to me than crossing uncharted waters? Facing things which were once so familiar to me....and now so foreign. Facing fears, without friends I'm close to by my side. They are all far away - a good number remained in Malaysia, while the rest are pretty much scattered across the globe. They may be with me, both in mind and spirit, but it is still difficult, knowing that they are not around physically. Sometimes I wished they are here with me, or better still...that I am with them.

Sigh.

But life isn't always a bed of roses, is it? Sooner or later, all good things would come to an end...and when that time comes, I just have to pick up the pieces and move on. The things that are best forgotten, I'll forget (eventually). And things that I love(d), I'll cherish.

(Note to myself: Just keep that happy thought, and you'll be okay...)

I just HATE getting out of my comfort zone though. ><" But then again, who doesn't? =p I really don't know what to expect this time around. For tomorrow, that is. And of course, my clinical phase in Melbourne.

Wish me luck. A six-month break can be very damaging to one's medical knowledge and memory indeed. ><

More updates later.
