Thanks to May Ying and Po Yin, who notified me about the concert and secured good seatings, Min and I had the opportunity to watch "A Night in Fantasia 2007: Symphonic Games Edition" last night!

(The two tickets I purchased from May Ying, a free "A Night in Fantasia 2007" booklet and Warcraft 14-day trial CD I got out of the concert, and the newly released Passion CD purchased from the souvenir booth. The thumb drive is placed as such for added colour. =p)

As the theme of the concert suggested, we were treated to music pieces from popular games and anime, which included:

1. Final Fantasy XII: "Opening Theme"

2. Deltora Quest: "Deltora Main Title" (yet to be released in Japan)

3. Romeo x Juliet: "Hisyou"

4. Legend of Mana: "Legend of Mana Theme"

5. Xenosaga Episode 1: "Gnosis", "Zarathustra" and "World to be Born"

6. Metal Gear Solid 2/3: "Main Theme"

7. Super Mario Brothers: "Super Mario Brothers Theme"

8. Tekken: Dark Resurrection: "Sunrise"

9. God(?) Save Our King!: "Hero"

10. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children: "Tenrai ~Divinity I~"

11. World of Warcraft: "World of Warcraft Suite"

12. Shadow of the Colossus: "Revived Power ~Battle with the Colossus~", "Swift Horse" and "Counterattack ~Battle with the Colossus"

13. Tales of Legendia: "Requiem", "The Prayers become Power" and "To Deliver the Feelings" (yet to be released too, I think)

14. Soul Calibur III: "Path of Destiny"

15. Odine Sphere: "Odine Sphere"

16. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: "Twilight Princess"

17. Kingdom Hearts II: "Fantasia Alla Marcle"

(This is place where the Eminence concert was held last night: Hamer Hall, overlooking Yarra River. Picture taken from tucuxi.org)

Just a little bit about the Eminence Symphonic Orchestra:

Eminence comprises of about 60 elite musicians who wish to change the perceptions of symphonic music. They aim to reach out and be heard with their "bold, dynamic" and contemporary orchestral arrangements, in hope to make symphonies appealing again to the general public. Founded by violin virtuoso Hiroaki Yura in 2003, the Eminence Symphonic Orchestra was fully formed in 2004, and made their debut in Sydney with "A Night in Fantasia 2004". The rest, as they say, is history....

With "A Night in Fantasia: Symphonic Games Edition 2007", they want the younger audience to connect with the familiar and hopefully appreciate orchestral music in greater depth.

For more information regarding Eminence, check out their official website:

Despite not being a gamer, I found the entire show fantastic. The most memorable pieces were the "Super Mario Theme" (SO CUTE!!!), "Metal Gear Solid's Main Theme" (the percussions bold and strong, the strings dynamic and vibrant - completely blew me away!), "The Legend of Mana Theme" and "Deltora's Quest Main Theme".

There was also a huge screen at the front, which displayed exerpts or video clips from the game/anime, when their respective pieces were being played. That made it all the more entertaining, and definitely easier for me to identify.... at the beginning, I was only aware of Super Mario, DoTA, Metal Solid Gear, Final Fantasy, Tekken, Soul Calibur and Kingdom Hearts! lol.

There were some moments when it became a tad boring, most notably when they played all three pieces from "Shadow of the Colossus" back to back (the three arrangements were quite similar), but overall I found the concert modern, refreshing and definitely an eye-opener.

This comes highly recommended. More so if you're into Gaming or Anime. XD

PS: I've placed a video clip of the Eminence Orchestra playing "Journey to the West (Princess Mononoke OST)" on A Night in Fantasia 2006, just to let you guys have a "feel" of it. =P Do watch it whenever you are free. It's good. =) Will be removing it later.

You scored as Medic.

You're a medic. Not really into fighting people, but prefer to help and heal. You're a caring person who generally wants to help, but not fight. Instead you heal the injured. You're a brave person, but most people generally regard you as foolish because of the risks you take to help others, but you don't care because you're a battlefield medic, and saving lives is your business.

*VOILA!!!!*

I've SUCCESSFULLY baked my first batch of butter cakes with Min last night, under the watchful eye of my uncle, of course! It was so straightforward and easy, even for an amateur like me!! XD Really happy with the outcome, as my last baking attempt (tried to make some chocolate & walnut bars) back home was a complete DISASTER. ><
Baking's FUN! Will definitely be working on more recipes this Easter break. XD

Some things never cease to amaze me.

Street artists, like this man photographed below.

He is turning slabs of concrete along the walkway of Bourke St., Melbourne, into works of art.

(Now, how do you like that? Just beautiful, don't you think?)

Mind you, all he had were trays of broken pastels, some white tape to line the border of his artworks, concrete floors as his "canvas", and photos of famous paintings as references!

(Close-up view of one of his finished work)

Doesn't it make you wonder how some people could create beautiful things out of the ordinary? =)

I watched "Meet the Robinsons" this afternoon!!! It has a pretty good storyline, great animation, and is very entertaining. Lots of funny bits in between. heheh. I highly recommend it. =P

Just in case you'd like to know where (the heck) did I find time to go catch a movie, I'm currently on my EASTER BREAK!!! One week off, to be more precise. lol. Been waiting eagerly for this holiday...especially after my 2nd mid-semester test, which was horrible. It didn't go smoothly as I had hoped, so guess I didn't fare well this time around. =\ Ah well, I'll have another shot in the 3rd (and final) mid-semester assessment, so we'll see later. XD

Have a Happy Easter, everyone!!!
