And so the reproductive assessment has come to pass after a fleeting (and somewhat 'hazy') five-week system course. It was horrid....to me at least. This is one paper (I know) that will not make the 65-mark-cut-off point. (To the uninitiated, IMU's passing score is 65 and above) Oh well, my bad....

I solemnly swear that THIS shall NOT happen again!!!

On a lighter note....

My family returned to Teluk Intan again, this time on Christmas Eve. Although our stay was relatively short (read: 3 days), it was nevertheless an event worth remembering, not only because it coincided with Christmas, but the fact that most of my relatives were there! Considering that my paternal family side is an extensive one [my father has eight living siblings altogether; all but one married and had children], and many had migrated overseas (ranging from Melbourne to Arizona), this was certainly one of the RARE occasions where we all could meet up and make merry!! To top it off, my grandmother was relatively well (and very happy) throughout our stay!!!

So what have I been doing in grandmother's home/Teluk Intan:

1. Walking down memory lane

After much persuasion, Dad finally rummaged an old family cupboard and found two photo-albums, chock-full with photographs of his childhood and hey-days. Dad in bell-bottoms? Tight-fitting shirts? Thick-rimmed frame, and tinted glasses? Almost-shoulder-length hair? By George, Dad was HOT!!
And so were my uncles and aunts!!!

I swear they are one good-looking family!!!! HONEST!!! =D

[NOTE: will try to hook up a few family photographs here once I get a hold on them...you'll soon see what I mean. *winks*]

2. Wake up and smell the roses...literally

One of my cousins went up to Cameron Highlands and brought a bunch of roses down for my grandmother. Call me an old-fashioned, corny, romantic crack-pot, but THOSE BLOOMS ARE TO DIE FOR!!! I've never seen anything so beautiful in recent months!!!! From the silk-like petals, amazing palatte of colours (deep yellow, peach, orange, pink, lilac, muave and violet) to the wonderful scent, it's simply cathartic! And only RM6.00 for 25 stalks! Now how's that for a bargain? =p

3. Finger-drills

The piano at grandma's had definitely done wonders to me. The old chum successfully rekindled my love for music, despite having more than half of its keys being either off-pitch or 'muffled'! **Coupled with my oh-so-rusty-skills, I've practically butchered Canon in C major (Pachebel), Chariots of Fire (Vengelis) and Sentimental (Kenny G) in the last two days of my stay!!
That's a start nonetheless - to greater things, perhaps? =)

Who would have thought that objects, not living entities - could give you such satisfaction/consolation sometimes?

**My music instructor would have died of hysteria if she heard me play then....=p

There are a lot more things I would like to share here, but considering that my lil' bro's been pestering me to watch "Giligan's Island" together for the last 1 1/2 hours, I better end here first. Will be adding more to the list above soon. hehehe.

CHEERS!!!! =D

Here are my choices:

One:

A seeker of harmony, you are a natural peacemaker. You are good natured and people enjoy your company. You put people at ease and make them feel at home with you.
The World's Shortest Personality Test

Two:

Your Personality Profile
You are dignified, spiritual, and wise.Always unsatisfied, you constantly try to better yourself. You are also a seeker of knowledge and often buried in books.
You tend to be philosophical, looking for the big picture in life. You dream of inner peace for yourself, your friends, and the world.A good friend, you always give of yourself first.

The World's Shortest Personality Test

Have you ever experienced a dull, throbbing pain running along your lower jaw, gnawing at your sanity for the next 30 minutes or so before it stops?

If so, were you relieved after the pain subsided, thinking "Thank goodness it's gone", only to realize (much to your chagrin) that it returns over and over again in the next couple of hours?

How about waking up (numerous times) in the dead of the night - with the ache and a shooting headache to boot?

Ever been compelled to treat pain-killers like candy on such occasions, when the pain is incredibly intense, only to think twice about the adverse effects before doing so?

I have been through this in the last five days or so, and trust me, it is no fun at all. I am now sleep-deprived, my concentration level is on an all-time LOW, my work is WAY behind schedule, irritability levels are running sky-high and my jaw still hurts as I type this line.

Stupid braces.

But who am I to complain about? This pain is NOTHING compared to what my grandmother is going through at the moment.

She was admitted into the hospital again. My family rushed to her side on Saturday afternoon, and what I saw there shook me completely:

My grandmother, once the epitome of strength, is literally wasting away.

The changes seen in the last one month were simply devastating.

Those sunken eyes.
Hollow cheeks.
Swollen legs.
That vacant and depressed expression....

- The discomfort when her body rejected almost all foods she consumed.
- Her fear of eating for fear of the former.
- The pain she had to endure when doctors spent a long time locating her veins for saline and nutriflex drips.
- Her new-found fear for needles....
- And blood transfusions.

The agony my family felt when we discovered:

- Most of her fragile veins had collapsed.
- She lost the ability to walk due to profound muscle wasting and cachexia.
- She could hardly talk anymore.
- A bout of pneumonia has set in.
- How her now frail body tremored and shook whenever she experienced intense pain...

It was just too much for all to bear.

Father said death is inevitable. That I cannot deny, considering the diagnosis and her age. But tell me, is there anything that could somewhat alleviate her symptoms? So much so that when her time comes, she would go peacefully....and with dignity?

I foresee trying times for my family ahead....

Pray for her well-being....please?
